Hiking in Mallorca is an experience like no other. Hiking hasbeen strongly linked to the island's cultural heritage, as most of the land is privately owned and agriculturally used. Some of the trails are very old and were used to connect the remote Fincasamong each other and with the bigger villages. The village of Sóller is the most important starting point for the hikes. Something like a dozen peaks exist with elevations higher than 1,364mand are sometimes covered in snow during wintertime.

Mallorca is without a doubt one of the worlds top venues for sport climbing. An abundance of top quality limestone means that the island has an unparalleled variety of routes of all types and grades. Also the fact that you are never more than 15 minutes drive away from a rock face makes Mallorca a great place to learn to climb. With our mountain guides you will have access to some of the best and most beautiful routes in the world.

Who Knew?

The first human settlement of Mallorca is recorded as 3000BC, although there are records of burial chambers that could date as far back as 6000BC. The Greeks and Phoenicians established trading ports here and the Balearic Islands formed part of the Carthaginian Trading Empire from North Africa. The Romans conquered Mallorca in 123 BC and their occupation lasted until 5th century AD. The Romans were responsible for naming the capital city Palmeria (now abbreviated to Palma – meaning Palm of Victory) and Alcudia (Pollentia).
