Kingdom Of Bhutan - November 14 - 22, 2015

One of the most sought after destinations in the world! We land in Kathmandu, Nepal and settle into a luxurious hotel to flush the stress of travel and prepare for the journey. We will take 2 days to settle in and rewire the nervous system. We will do yoga twice daily with a restorative practice in the evening. We will tour the cities of Kathmandu and Bhaktapur. Expect a much slower pace filled with deep cultural immersion and a look at some of the most beautiful architecture in the world. This year we will see the damage caused by weeks of continued earthquakes in April and early May.

Then it is off to The Kingdom of Bhutan, arguably one of the most pristine places inhabited today. We will spend the next 6 days taking in the landscape and architecture that has withstood the test of time. As an ancient trade route between India and China, Bhutan is home to deep heritage and lasting traditions. We will see ceremonies at temples, prayer flags hung in the wildest places, and elders with their mala beads and prayer wheels in complete devotion. We will hike to the famous Tiger's Nest Monastery built high on a cliff. The trail is maintained now and easy to access, however, it will leave you in awe of how they ever constructed such a monument. (photos here)

The Kingdom of Bhutan

A typical day will include an early wake-up and an invigorating yoga class, followed by hot tea and breakfast. Each day will be different but will include an intimate look into the culture and traditions of the local environment whether it be a temple, a weaving factory, a school, or the largest sitting Buddha statue in the WORLD! We will even hike through a working village on our way to The Divine Madman's Temple. This guy was certainly Holy but very crude and assertive in his life of saving souls and marching through the country side charming young girls and drinking plenty. People still visit this site to help with conception. There is a lot of driving from village to village as we explore a large swath of Bhutan.

The Kingdom of Bhutan.... is paradise. They actually measure the country's success by the GNH (Gross National Happiness) instead of the GDP. It is an excellent combination of Himalayan scenery and amazing local people. Their uniforms and red-teethed smiles will warm your heart and leave you with memories that will last the rest of your life. The Kingdom of Bhutan is one of the most special places in Asia. We know you will agree!
